Smoke Alarms Save Lives

Working smoke alarms provide your family with an early warning in the event of a fire, giving everyone valuable time to escape safely. The Ravenna Township Fire Department is committed to helping protect our community by ensuring every home has working smoke alarms.

Project S.A.F.E. (Smoke Alarms For Everyone)

The Ravenna Township Fire Department is proud to partner with the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s Office through Project S.A.F.E. (Smoke Alarms For Everyone). This statewide initiative helps ensure that every Ohio household has access to life-saving smoke alarms.

If you are a Ravenna Township resident and need a smoke alarm, or if your existing alarm is outdated or no longer functioning properly, please contact the fire station. Depending on eligibility and availability, our personnel may be able to provide and install a smoke alarm at no cost.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarms

Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless gas that can be deadly. Every home with fuel-burning appliances, an attached garage, or other potential sources of carbon monoxide should have working CO alarms installed outside each sleeping area and on every level of the home.

If you are a Ravenna Township resident and need a carbon monoxide alarm, please contact the fire station. Our staff can discuss available resources and determine whether a CO alarm is available for your home.

Fire Inspections

The Ravenna Township Fire Department conducts fire inspections to help businesses, organizations, and property owners maintain safe buildings and comply with the Ohio Fire Code.

To schedule a fire inspection or discuss inspection requirements, please contact the fire station and ask to speak with the Officer on Duty.

Our personnel are available to assist with:

A Knox Box is a secured key box that is mounted to a business or a home. This secured box allows the Fire Department to access your home or business in the event of an emergency. The key for the fire department is secured in the fire trucks and ambulances. It is a unique key specific to Ravenna Township to access the Knox Box. Each firefighter has their own code to access the key that is tracked each time it is used.

The Knox Box allows the fire department rapid entry without having to break open a door and cause property damage. They are required for each new business in Ravenna Township and recommended for all businesses in the Township. Residential Knox Boxes are also available for your house so the fire department can have rapid access in the event of a Fire or a Medical Emergency.
