Ravenna Township Service Department provides many services to residents. Some of these are voluntary on the Township’s part, some are mandated by the Ohio Revised Code. A mandated service is to keep our 26.456 miles of Township Roadways in good drivable condition. We have a rotating plan of paving which is done each summer. We try to get grants to help with these costs. The Service Department patches holes throughout the year as the need arises.

Brush Chipping Service: One service that is voluntarily provided to Township residents is our Brush Chipping Service. This is designed to assist in the disposal of storm damaged tree limbs and brush and debris from MINOR tree trimming performed by residents. Ravenna Township will NOT pick up material that has been cut by a commercial service or material from the clearing of a building lot. As workloads permit the Ravenna Township Road Crew will chip on Mondays from May through October. Chipping during other months will be on an as needed basis and as time permits.

To ensure tree limbs and brush will be chipped, please observe the following:

  1. Place material on the road right of way.
  2. Arrange material in neat piles with the butt ends toward the road.
  3. Do NOT include leaves, grass or lumber.
  4. Do NOT include stumps or branches with dirt attached.
  5. Do NOT include limbs greater than 10 inches in diameter. Any material that does not meet the above criteria will not be removed.
  6. Brush piles are restricted to four (4) feet high by eight (8) feet long and eight (8) feet wide, any brush exceeding this size will NOT be picked up by the Road Department.

Leaf Pick Up Service: Each fall (usually late September and October) as time permits bagged leaves in manageable size bags will be collected on Mondays.

Please observe the following:

  1. Place the bagged leaves on the road right of way.
  2. Bags must be easily handled, not too heavy.
  3. No grass clippings or other debris may be in the bags with the leaves.

Please call the Township Service Department at 330-296-5583 if you have questions about these services.
