A fire destroyed a trailer at the Pine Gate Trailer Park in Ravenna Township early Saturday morning.

The department received a call 3:15 a.m. from the sole occupant of the trailer noting that she smelled something burning.

When firefighters arrived a short time later, they found it "fully involved."

Ravenna Township Fire Department Capt. Phil Anders said there were no injuries, but the trailer was a total loss, estimated at $15,000.

"When firefighters arrived (the fire) was already through the roof," he said.

Because of the proximity of the trailer, firefighters battled the blaze to keep it from spreading to other homes at the park, at 6615 Cleveland Road. There was no damage to the other trailers.

It took firefighters only took 15 minutes to control the blaze, but they were on site for nearly two hours cleaning up the area and ensuring other park resident's safety.

Also responding to the fire were Kent, Ravenna City, Streetsboro and Mantua-Shalersville departments.

Anders said the fire is under investigation, but believes it may have started in the kitchen or the livingroom.

"When the fire is already 50 percent consumed, it becomes a defensive attack," he said. "Sometimes it takes days to find out what caused it."
